About CATF . . .

The Contemporary American Theater Festival is dedicated to producing and developing new American theater.

We produce 5 new plays, including world premieres and second or third productions of new plays. We will also produce one stage reading.

The plays are performed in a rotating repertory schedule, Wednesday through Sunday. The 2012 Season performance dates are July 6 - July 29.

Contracts are generally 8 - 10 weeks, generally starting in early June and ending no later than Aug. 3. Some electrics and sound positions start later. Air conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters is provided free.

CATF is located on the campus of Shepherd University in historic Shepherdstown, WV, 70 miles from Washington, DC. We are in a scenic four-state region, with easy access to Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and eastern West Virginia.

CATF operates under a LORT D contract with Actors' Equity Association. Actors and stage managers are all AEA members.

Housing is provided for all staff members, usually in dorms on campus.

CATF is proud to have members of the following unions working with us:
• Actors' Equity Association
• Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Inc.
• United Scenic Artists
