When you come to CATF, you can immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural life that surrounds the stage. In Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia, you'll find an eclectic assortment of shops and restaurants to fit any budget, many in beautifully restored historic buildings. There are visual arts, film, music and dance. But mostly you'll find other adventurous theater-goers gathering to discuss the latest plays, and often rubbing elbows with playwrights and actors from the Festival. We also offer free tent lectures, post-show discussions, and staged readings of new plays. In and around Shepherdstown you'll find bicycling, hiking, golf, and just a few miles away, historic Harpers Ferry and Antietam Civil War Battlefield. There's always something for everyone to do.
